About Us

Flyin’ High was established in the spring of 2008 as there was a clear and present need for safe and proper instruction to insure the continued positive growth of the sport. Owner Harmony Nadjiwon-Ellis and her husband Mitch Ellis realized the importance of following your heart and living your dreams after Harmony went through some serious medical issues in the winter of 2008. The kiteschool was started with minimum lead time in 2008 and has expanded for the 2009 season. Harmony spent the cold and stormy Oliphant winter working on ways to improve on the success that the school had in its first season.

The main focus of the kiteboarding school is to educate students on the technical and safety aspects of the sport. Kiteboarding has the potential to be a dangerous sport but through proper training on all aspects of the sport these dangers can be easily avoided. The lessons are taught on the shores of Lake Huron with a maximum instruction ratio of 2:1 (this is to insure proper and personal instruction) from our fleet of PASA Certified Instructions.

All of our instructors are certified through the PASA (Professional Air Sports Association) organization are CPR & first aid trained as well as posses a current canadian boating licence

Our Passion

The “Flyin’ High” team for 2009 is made up of local Oliphant residents. All of the instructors have yearly or seasonal residences in Oliphant and are extremely passionate about kiteboarding and the community here. As all have close knit relationships within the community and want to see the unique coastline of Oliphant thrive for the generations to come in hopes that one day our grandchildren will be able to enjoy Oliphant in the same way that the members of the “Flyin’ High” Team have enjoyed the beauty and natural resources that Oliphant offers.

Why Are You so Stoked on Kiting?: There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you
accomplish something new in kiting. Kiteboarding is one of the sports where girls can ride just as hard as the boys you just have to go for it!! And hey getting worked really isn’t that bad. Warning, Kiting is addictive it’s really hard to concentrate on anything else if you can see it’s windy and it’s
the right direction, I just have to head to the beach.
